A Note on Lie Groups
نویسنده
چکیده
In this note we present two proofs of Theorems A and B ; one proof uses differential forms, the other, which is somewhat more elementary, is based on differential geometry. Let then G be a real connected compact Lie group and assume that the fundamental group of G is infinite. We have to prove that G is not semi-simple. We note that for compact groups "semi-simple" means that the center of G is finite [2, p. 282].

A note on primary-like submodules of multiplication modules
Primary-like and weakly primary-like submodules are two new generalizations of primary ideals from rings to modules. In fact, the class of primary-like submodules of a module lie between primary submodules and weakly primary-like submodules properly. In this note, we show that these three classes coincide when their elements are submodules of a multiplication module and satisfy the primeful pr...
متن کاملModuli of Einstein and Non-Einstein Nilradicals
The subject of left-invariant Ricci soliton metrics on nilpotent Lie groups has enjoyed quite a bit of attention in the past several years. These metrics are intimately related to left-invariant Einstein metrics on non-unimodular solvable Lie groups. In fact, a classification of one is equivalent to a classification of the other. In this note, we focus our attention on nilpotent Lie groups and ...
متن کاملMath 229a Fall 2014 Class Notes
Please let me know if you find any mistakes! Friday, October 3, 2014. Grading will be based on an exam on Friday, December 12. Groups of general interest often have some additional natural structure: Topological groups, Lie groups. From Lie groups, we get Lie algebras via a standard procedure in differential topology. There’s also an association in the reverse direction, from Lie algebras to Li...
متن کاملEinstein structures on four-dimensional nutral Lie groups
When Einstein was thinking about the theory of general relativity based on the elimination of especial relativity constraints (especially the geometric relationship of space and time), he understood the first limitation of especial relativity is ignoring changes over time. Because in especial relativity, only the curvature of the space was considered. Therefore, tensor calculations should be to...
متن کاملEuler-Lagrange equations and geometric mechanics on Lie groups with potential
Abstract. Let G be a Banach Lie group modeled on the Banach space, possibly infinite dimensional, E. In this paper first we introduce Euler-Lagrange equations on the Lie group G with potential and right invariant metric. Euler-Lagrange equations are natural extensions of the geodesic equations on manifolds and Lie groups. In the second part, we study the geometry of the mechanical system of a r...
متن کاملHarmonicity and Minimality of Vector Fields on Lorentzian Lie Groups
We consider four-dimensional lie groups equipped with left-invariant Lorentzian Einstein metrics, and determine the harmonicity properties of vector fields on these spaces. In some cases, all these vector fields are critical points for the energy functional restricted to vector fields. We also classify vector fields defining harmonic maps, and calculate explicitly the energy of t...
